This book was published in conjunction with Korean artist and designer Lee Kwangho's exhibition, "Obsession," held in Tokyo in 2024. The allure of Lee's work lies in his ability to transform mundane materials like ropes, PVC tubes and electrical wires into mysterious, organic forms through the repetitive process of hand-weaving. This process, which appears to be infused with his spirit, transcends mere beauty and vibrancy, embodying a certain magic that Lee has named this series "Obsession."
The book includes photographs of Lee's studios in Hanam and Seongsu, South Korea, taken by Akinobu Maeda, alongside images of the exhibited works at the exhibition in Tokyo, captured by Go Itami. An exclusive interview conducted at the Hanam studio also offers insights into Lee's background, the motivation behind his repetitive process and his perspectives on the current Korean cultural scene.
